Hannu Huhtamo is a visual artist from Helsinki, Finland. Since 2008 Hannu has been working on light art and long exposure photography. Hannu’s work consists of organic looking shapes that create a strong contrast with the surroundings. Unusual and forgotten places in the city outskirts become a surreal scene for his light creatures.
Hannu’s light art photography has gained a lot of attention in the art world all over the Internet. His work has been featured in various magazines, blogs and news channels like CNN and Discovery Channel.
Hannu is also part of the Valopaja light art collective that organizes workshops and interactive live light painting performances. In those events the audience has the opportunity to be a part of the show by creating light art of their own.
OM SYSTEM Ambassador
As a light painter one of my biggest challenges is to match the ambience light with the light painting tools that I use. The whole process might get tricky if the environment is not dark enough. Some of my designs have lots of details and the exposure time can vary from a couple of minutes to an hour.
After I switched to OM SYSTEM cameras and started using their Live Composite feature for longer exposures, these technical barriers got so much easier to handle.
